This festival highlights the rich history and current importance of international films in general, and works created by Francophone directors in particular, to a general understanding of film as a form of artistic and cultural expression.
The event is a collaborative and interdisciplinary festival that brings together UWG faculty from International Languages and Cultures, English, Film Studies, Mass Communications, and Theatre.
We want to help place international film at the center of film studies, rather than on the margins as sometimes can occur in the U.S. The film festival will also emphasize the vibrancy and reach of our French program and shows that specializing in French is not just about learning the French language, but also connecting the study of Francophone cultures to numerous other fields.
