Thanks to The West Geauga Educational Foundation for funding my Where in the World grant!!
What is Where in the World?
Where in the World will take place in the Lindsey library. Initially it will involve fifth grade students. The goal of the program will be to research the various countries where the video will take place. Students will conduct their research during their library time. (This will not impact their ability to choose and check out a library book during their scheduled library time.) Students will research all aspects of their countries from “Where in the World” their country is located to important locations and landmarks. When filming their "Where in the World” segment, they will be in front of a green screen so as to project the country where they are “located” For instance, if students are researching France, they can be reporting from in front of the Eiffel Tower. The video will be shared via Google Classroom during library class. The video will also be made available to teachers if they would like to have their students watch the Where in the World segment during classroom time.
Also, students will be able to learn the process — Learning green screen technology is a great skill set to develop and it can start at any age. Creating the “Where in the World” project can offer introductory or advanced green screen techniques to be implemented, thereby letting students get as creative as they want.
