6th 7th & 8th Grade Course Descriptions

6th/7th grade PE Physical Education includes developing knowledge and skills in various phases of individual and group lifetime activities, as well as promoting interest in physical fitness. It provides for constructive use of leisure time sports skills. Students are required to wear the Physical Education uniform and tennis shoes. 

8th Grade PE Physical Education is aimed at improving knowledge and skills in individual and group activities, developing leadership as well as fitness. It is designed to provide interest in leisure time activities and contribute to agility, balance, speed, coordination, and strength. Students are required to wear the Physical Education uniform and tennis shoes.

About Us

Mrs. Thompson is a 29-year veteran of the West Geauga district and a member of the Euclid HS athletic HOF and US National Softball HOF.  She lives in Mentor with her husband Steve and her two children Tyler and Raegan.

Mr. Nightingale is a 21-year veteran of the West Geauga district, is a member of the Wellsville HS Athletic HOF (wrestling) and is a former wrestling and track coach.  He lives in Aurora with his wife Jenna and sons Louie, Vinny and daughter Jenavie.

Philosophy- Our philosophy of physical education focuses on the development of lifelong fitness and development of understanding of the principles of exercise using games and team activities.  Positive attitudes, behaviors and respect for self and others are a requirement in physical education class.  The goal of the program is to enjoy physical activity, resulting in the desire to continue exercise throughout the students' lifetime.   

Curriculum- The PE curriculum includes: Personal Fitness, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, kickball, hockey, battle ball, whiffle ball, flag football, rock climbing, table tennis, pickle ball, picnic games (corn hole, tether ball, wall ball, ladder ball), basketball, four square, badminton, and more.
