News for the week of May 6, 2024
Opinion Writing: Students will continue working on Opinion Writing.
Making Meaning: We will read aloud Me First. Students will explore important ideas in a fiction story, make inferences to think about what is important in the story, visualize to make sense of the story, and make text-to-self connections. The following vocabulary words will be introduced: blod, shriek, congratulate, whimper.
Fundations- We begin our last Unit, 17 in Fundations. Concepts introduced are consonant-le syllable typoe, spelling consonant- le words, and review of all 6 syllable types.
Trick Words: trouble, couple, young
Bridges- We will begin Unit 7, which covers length in metric units, division & fractions, adding and subtracting three-digit numbers, and solving story problems.
Social Studies- Wax Museum Research Project

MAP TESTING this week! Monday- Reading/ Wednesday- Math

Homework
Reading Comprehension Homework: Read the short story passage with your child and initial each night. Five (5) comprehension questions on the back need to be answered. The passage is due Friday.

“Click” on Skills Plan in the upper left/center corner of the page.
“Click” on MAP Math or Reading located to the right of Bridges in Mathematics.
Complete 10 minutes for Math, but Reading is optional (Monday- Thursday).
Poetry Folder: Read the weekly poem over the weekend, parent signature, and place it within the three-prong folder.
