Welcome Back Westford Academy!
The Change Makers Of Our Community At WA
The Westford Academy Student Senate exists to bring students into the decision-making process of Westford Public Schools. We are a centralized forum where students can discuss the issues which matter most to them, while also gaining a deep understanding of the way local government and school administration functions. This knowledge will allow senators to make concrete plans and take action, while also ensuring that the senate works through the proper channels. These actions may involve formal or informal recommendations and actions concerning Westford Academy policy, rules, regulations, programs and processes.
Scheduling Reform. What can we do to improve our everyday class rotation cycle, as well as PE requirements and overrides.
School Sustainability focuses on the carbon footprint our school has, and how we can improve. We are also working with Principal Twomey on his Green Plan.
Financial Literacy --> Credit For Life Fair, an interactive event that will allow WA seniors to simulate responsible- or irresponsible- financial decision making throughout adulthood
Mental Health: Solutions to reduce stress.
Creating a synopsis of the student handbook, to give students a better understanding of what standard operating procedures are being enforced on them.
Sustainability posters around school and a video working with the Westford CAT.
Sold academic-themed baskets at the Holiday Bazaar.
Collected student data about new cell phone policies and effectively communicated with the deans to share student concerns.
Meetings are held after school on Tuesdays. The meetings are in room 129 from 2-3pm.
All meetings are open door, and we encourage all students who are interested in topics related to the Senate or our school in general to join us at our meeting.
