Here are some websites that you might find interesting and/or helpful and/or fun (if they still work; current tools will be shared in class):

Generic websites

• You can use flashcards for all four operations.

• REQUIRES Java: Multiplication Flashcards lets you see how many math facts you can answer correctly in 30 seconds (Mrs. Rowe's best score so far is 28).

Number Sense and Operations websites

• Place Values teaches place value skills covered in K-8 math courses.

• Place Value Puzzler has you click on the number in the specified place value location.

• The Place Value Game gives you one digit at a time for you to place to try to make the largest possible number.

• A video explaining the new, more sophisticated (less elementary) way to write numbers in expanded form.

• Rounding Decimals/Whole Numbers is a match game to practice rounding decimals to the nearest whole number.

• Who Wants to be a Place Value Master? lets you review several concepts with a fun game (there are occasional flaws, but overall good).

• Decimal and Whole Number Jeopardy is a way to review rounding, comparing, and place value selecting one question at a time.

• FUNBRAIN Math Baseball practices whole number operations (have scrap paper handy).

• Long Division to Decimal Places explains adding zeros to the right of the decimal point to keep dividing.

• Divisibility Rules lets you practice the divisibility rules (more than just the rules from class).

• Prime Numbers on Khan Academy explains what prime numbers are (unfortunately, does not show how to find factors of bigger numbers that might seem prime). You can click on one of the stars on the left side to practice checking for which number is prime or which number is composite.

• Multiply and divide by powers of ten

• Identify with Pizza requires you to identify the numerator and denominator that names how much pizza is left

• Fresh Baked Fractions shows four fractions, one that is not equivalent to the others (with improper fractions)

• Changing Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers lets you practice

• Changing Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions lets you practice

• IXL - Compare and order fractions (a bit too easy)

• Khan Academy - Ordering fractions (don't forget to click the correct button to get next problem)

• mathopolis - Practice comparing fractions (challenging)

• Representation of Decimals on a Number Line focuses on dividing the number line into smaller increments.

• Comparing decimals uses number lines and fractions to compare decimals.

• Decimals has links about various operations on decimals (each page has an explanation, interactive practice and challenge games about decimals).

• Decimal Numbers has various “lessons” listed on the left side panel with some interactive pieces if you are using Internet Explorer.

• Funbrain Power Football lets you choose the operation to play football with correct answers.

• Dividing Decimals (you'll probably want scrap paper handy for the practice problems).

• Algebraic Expressions reviews symbols, powers and exponents, order of operations, substituting values for variables, and writing algebraic expressions.

• Basic Terms explains lines, rays, line segments, points, as well as parallel.

• Perpendicular and Parallel shows parallel and perpendicular lines.

• 6^th Grade Demo Game use your arrow keys to place the robot under the correct answer (recognizing congruent angles or classifying acute, right, and obtuse angles); use the spacebar to select it.

• Banana Hunt tells you at what angle the bananas are hidden and you try to create an appropriate angle to search for the bananas.

• Figures and polygons has good information about polygons.

• Interior Angles Page explains how to find the sum of the interior angles of polygons.

• Triangles - Equliateral, Isosceles, and Scalene shows triangle classification.

• Polygons – Quadrilaterals has a lesson and practice specifically about quadrilaterals.

• Illustrated Lessons: Line Symmetry has a video all about line symmetry with some practice mixed in.

• Rotational Symmetry has visuals to demonstrate rotational symmetry.

• Coordinates and similar figures has information about coordinate grid, similarity, congruency, rotations, reflections, and symmetry.

• Similar and Congruent Figures has you sort the cards into the most specific comparison of the two items on the card.

• Perimeter explains some of the shortcuts we found in class and has some practice problems.

• Funbrain Shape Excavator lets you practice finding perimeter and area of rectangles.

• Area of a Triangle explains the area of triangles by comparing to parallelograms and has practice problems.

• YouTube video with a spoof song all about pi.

• Circumference has good information about pi, circumference, diameter, and radius of a circle.

• Area of a Circle continues the lesson above and has practice finding area of circles.

• Ratios and Proportions is a slideshow with interactive practice on most slides (the "Next" button doesn't necessarily bring you to a new slide)

• Simplifying Ratios is a game that has you rewrite ratios in simplest form (keep the ratio in the format that uses a ";").

• Ratios has you reduce a ratio to lowest terms using the A:B format.
