The Westfield Public School District follows the guidance of the New Jersey Department of Health and the Westfield Regional Health Department for health and safety protocols.
On May 13, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that fully vaccinated people can stop wearing masks indoors and outdoors in most venues. On May 15, the CDC updated its guidance as it pertains to schools saying: “Even as vaccinated adults stop wearing masks in many settings, schools should maintain recommended COVID-19 “layered mitigation strategies,” including masks, through at least the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.” As of May 13, Governor Murphy and the NJDOH were reviewing the updated CDC guidance.
Westfield Public Schools will continue to require mask wearing while on school property and asks adults to remember that they serve as role models for our students.
