Elementary Art

Mrs. Ciotti- Jefferson School

Are you ready for the 2023-2024 school year?  It's going to be great!

This year I will be teaching 4 of the grades at Jefferson and the AMAZING Miss Sarnowski (dsarnowski@westfieldnjk12.org) will be teaching the other grade on Thursdays.  Always feel free to email me at tciotti@westfieldnjk12.org anytime.  I will try my best to get back to you within 24 hours, during school hours.  I am not posted at Jefferson School on Thursdays, but I will get back to you the next time I am at school.

This year I will be trying to address some social-emotional issues that seem to be ongoing in the students.  There will be an emphasis on group work, cooperation, and mutual respect.  This is normal for the elementary curriculum, but we are going to be taking things slow, making sure the children have tools to handle conflict in a positive, kind way.

If you get an email from Artsonia, it is legitimate.  I have signed the students up for artsonia for a decade now.  It is a fun way for extended families of students to see their artwork, please don't feel obligated to buy.  If you do make a purchase, a small part of the proceeds come back to the art department.  We have even been able to purchase some iPads for the 4th grade unit on animation!

About Mrs. Ciotti

Mrs. Ciotti grew up in Westfield, attending Tamaques, then Edison, then graduating from Westfield High School before heading off to The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.   After graduating, she moved to Seattle for a couple of years working in corporate America.  (She worked in the Amazon headquarters when they only sold BOOKS!) After several years, she came back to NJ and earned a Masters in Art Education from Kean University.

Mrs. Ciotti taught Art in Red Bank Regional High School before coming home to Westfield in 2006.
