8th Grade
Robotics is the science of combining electronics and mechanical devices to perform tasks as directed by humans or computer programs. Robotics engages students in meaningful problem-based learning, integration and application of knowledge, hands-on learning in cooperative groups, and demonstrable mastery of new learning. Students are exposed to mechanics, electrical circuits, applied mathematical reasoning, and physics.
Course Objective
In the Robotic Design and Engineering course, students learn basic robotics, including: functions, tasks, programming, power, and logic. In addition to programming, other topics covered include technological systems, simple machines, sensors, mechanical advantage, measurements, ratios and proportions.
