French IV is designed for students who have successfully completed Level III and want to further refine their language skills. Students in this course continue to develop the ability to understand, speak, read and write for self-expression at a sophisticated level on a variety of topics. Interdisciplinary, linguistic, and cultural comparisons are facilitated through interwoven thematic contexts that draw from and reinforce the goals of other content areas such as history, science, economics, geography and the arts. The course emphasizes the development of skills in all language domains, as well as fostering the world languages standards of communication, culture, connections, comparisons and communities. This emphasis on language proficiency encourages students to use the target language through higher-level cognitive tasks and improve critical thinking skills.
