Algebra I Description: Full Year 5.00 Credits

Algebra I often is viewed as the “gateway” to future success in higher mathematics, post-secondary studies in math-related fields and a wide variety of careers. In this course, students strengthen their understanding of basic algebraic concepts and acquire both skills and the conceptual foundation needed for advanced mathematics. They learn to use symbolic reasoning, equations and functions to represent, analyze and interpret situations and apply algebraic reasoning to solve problems. In addition, they become more adept at communicating mathematically and justifying their thinking.

Geometry Advanced maintains and augments algebra skills and helps students develop the ability to analyze geometric properties and integrate both skills to solve problems. It also introduces logical argument and students learn how to analyze a problem in order to supply a diagram, set up a proof, and complete it successfully.
