The 7th grade Health curriculum is very broad and focuses on wellness both physical and mental. Topics include nutrition, eating disorders, bullying and sexual harassment and the consequences to the individual, family and community.
Communication skills including peer pressure refusal and conflict resolution are integrated throughout many lessons.
Drug education in grade 7 focuses on the major drug classifications and the impacts of drug use and abuse to the individual, family and community. Alcohol, tobacco/vaping, inhalants and marijuana are discussed in detail.
The unit on human relationships focuses on the changes during adolescence both physical and mental/emotional and includes dating. Students are separated by gender to learn the basic physical changes of puberty.
Parents or significant adults are the single most important influence on our children, please communicate with your children on these important topics!
