Course Description:

Biology is an introductory biology course that is taught with emphasis on major biological concepts rather than on a more abstract molecular-based approach. The course includes an overview of ecological principles, cellular biology, human body systems, genetics and evolution. Students are challenged to make qualitative and quantitative observations, analyze data and draw conclusions. The results of the experiments are related to the concepts discussed in class. Laboratory experiments demonstrate the experimental foundations of the subject matter, clarify and reinforce content, and teach laboratory techniques and safety. Skills required to analyze and summarize data are introduced in this course.
