Hi Reading Club! For the week of June 8-June 12 we will continue to work in the “Reading Club Packet.” Please focus on page 49. I know the pages are not numbered, I am counting from the front. On page 49, is the story “Mack and Bugs.” Please have your child read this story each day. We will be working on reading the story multiple times to build fluency. They can read it to parents, siblings, family over Zoom or facetime, or even stuffed animals. Another activity they can do is underline the digraphs, star the bonus letters, highlight words with suffixes, and box the glued sounds in the story. Lastly, please have them write a sentence for each of the following trick words: you, your, I, they, was. Please view the videos on my website for practice.
At the back of the packet are the trick words we are practicing in school. Trick words are words that cannot be sounded out, we just have to memorize them. This week you could also practice reading and spelling the trick words from Unit 13: work, word, write, being, there, first, look, good, new. Making flashcards and writing sentences with the words are two ideas for practice.
