"In my project classes, I feel like my teachers take an interest in getting to know me. They care about my success which has helped me build academic confidence and actually take an interest in learning content. The comfortable environment makes me want to participate and do better." - Allison (Sophomore)
"As a student who was in P'79, I'm super thankful for the role it played in my road to graduation. The program allowed me to be my authentic self and build confidence in my skills as a student and my choices for after igh school because I knew I had a team of teachers who cared about me. This made a huge difference for me. I can't thank my P'79 teachers enough. After graduating from WHS and the cosmetology program at Vo-Tech, I am now working as a hairstylist and taking classes and community college. I will be transferring to a four year university in the fall. Overall, I'm super grateful that I was able to be apart of P79 and how much help my teachers gave me to become a motivated student." - Danny (2025 Graduate)
"Having smaller classes makes me feel like I'm in a more supportive, less judgemental environment where I'm comfortable asking questions and participating. In my Project '79 classes, I've met people from all the building who I might not have connected with otherwise and they've become friends that I genuinely enjoy and feel grateful to learn with." -Sofia (Sophomore)
"Joining Project '79 was life changing for me as I was really able to be myself and thrive in high school. After joining Project and getting warmed up to it, my grades and attitude around school completely changed. I was having fun in my classes while still learning and prioritizing time management. One of my biggest regrets of high school is not joining P'79 sooner because my high school experience would've been even better." - Ethan (Senior)
"Being in smaller classes with teachers who I can talk to and connect with has helped me so much throughout high school. Turning around my grades and attitude about school would've been impossible if it weren't for Project '79. My teachers have become some of my favorite people who I can go to for any problem not just questions in class. I am comfortable and happy every day in my learning environment which is something I struggled with feeling before joining Project '79. Project is the best!" - Nina (Senior)
"Project completely changed my high school experience for the better. In a traditional setting, I struggled to engage and find my confidence, but Project '79 gave me an environment where learning felt purposeful and personal. The small class sizes and supportive community of teachers and peers meant I was truly known by the people around me. The hands-on approach to learning allowed me to grow in new and inspiring ways. When I transitioned to college I felt prepared, both academically and personally. I was comfortable speaking up in class, working independently, and navigating challenges without feeling overwhelmed. Project '79 have me the confidence and tools to succeed and it helped me rediscover my love for learning. P79 was exactly what I needed.
Today, I am studying Rehabilitation and Human Services in the College of Education at Penn State. The foundation I gained from P79 has played a huge role in helping me succeed in a rigorous college program. I am excited to work towards a career where I can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others -- just like the P79 community did for me." - Kate (2025 Graduate)
