About Me
Science and science teaching is changing rapidly, and I am excited about the future of science education for our students. My name is Jeff Robbins, and I started my career in Westfield in 1995, the same year Galileo made a close orbit of Jupiter.

I received an AS from County College of Morris, Bachelors and Teaching Certificate from Rutgers University, and then my Masters from the GSE at Rutgers. Outside of the classroom, I tend to be messing about in the outdoors with my wife and kids, and am most likely to be found on a mountain bike or in a raft or kayak.

About Environmental Science: Environmental Science takes a look at the human impact on the planet, both good and bad, and considers how all of our behaviors have consequences. We will be looking at real time data sets, and exploring real world examples to better understand what is happening in the world around us.
About General Biology: Biology is the study of life, and General Biology is looking for patterns, and how life finds a way. We will be looking at variations in species, and how traits pass through generations. We will be using models and data sets to explore how life has changed on the planet.
About Home Technology: Homes are complex systems, with many of them (anything with water) actively conspiring to cause mayhem in our lives. We will be learning about the major systems of homes, what can go wrong, how to trouble shoot and when to call a pro. We will have a better understanding of codes, and how to try to reduce costs while having a comfortable space, and how to identify common problems with houses.
About RoboLab: RoboLab is a class designed around the VEX robotics systems, and builds upon the middle school program (which is not a pre-requisite). We will be building robust robots, and automating them with complex sensor suites, and having our robots carry out complex and often humorous tasks.
About MakerSpace: MakerSpace is a great class that allows our students to make use of various tools to design, prototype and then produce new and exciting things. MakerSpace is all about problem solving and divergent thinking, trying different approaches, and learning from our failures.
