Accelerated Math with Ms. Manzo
This contract contains important information about policies and procedures in my classroom. Please read through it with your child and sign the bottom of the form.
Course Overview
Accelerated Math will cover 11 units throughout the school year, including:
Solving Linear
Solving Linear Inequalities
Graphing and Writing Linear Functions
Solving Systems of Linear Equations
Exponential Functions and Sequences
Polynomial Equations and Factoring
Graphing Quadratic Functions
Solving Quadratic Equations
Radical Functions and Equations
Data Analysis and Displays
Scientific Notation
The Pythagorean Theorem
Students are expected to be prepared for class by bringing their supplies each day.
The lesson plan for each week will be posted on google classroom, along with assignments and materials needed. Students must check google classroom everyday.
The textbook for Accelerated Math is Big Ideas Math – Algebra I. Your child will borrow a textbook for the year to keep at home. An online version of the textbook can be accessed at www.bigideasmath.com. Students will be registering for this during class. Homework assignments will be completed using the online textbook.
Classroom Expectations
Be positive and refrain from using language like ‘I can’t’ or ‘I’m bad at this’
Be active participants in class by paying attention and asking questions
Be proactive in their learning and take responsibility for their success
Be polite by showing respect to all members of our classroom community
Be prepared for class with the appropriate materials and assignments
Grading Policy
Marking period grades will be calculated using a point-based system.
The categories listed below represent the number of points that a student can earn from each assignment. Grades on individual assignments can be calculated using the same formula as seen above.
Homework - 2 pt. each assignment - 15% of total grade
Assessments - Point value ranges 85% of total grade
