It has been a busy few months in the RIS Modern Music class! Students have completed two major units- composing with form and the 12-bar blues. Students learned about common musical structures found in popular music; did a deeper study of one of those forms, the 12 bar blues;  and learned how to record, edit, and mix audio tracks into their original compositions. 

Congratulations to the students whose projects were selected as one of "Doyle's Dope Jams!" These students not only completed the requirements of the assignment and displayed excellent work ethic in the process, but created very interesting, complex, and catchy tunes! 

Next up, students have two more units-  film scoring and podcasting. Students will learn how to add music to selected short film scenes effectively. Our podcasting unit will focus on what makes an effective podcast, how to prepare and make a script, and how to record and edit to make a professional sounding product!
