(As of September 2023)
Upon receiving their equipment, students should clearly label items (book, bag, instrument case, etc...) with their Name and Class.
Some students will receive identical materials, such as a blue bag and music instrument case. It is encouraged to leave this bag at home, or clearly label it so that it is not mistakenly taken by another student.
When do lessons begin?
The week of Monday, September 18th
Lesson schedules will be distributed by your music teacher via email, Google Classroom, and accessible on our respective websites.
When do instrumental music lessons occur?
Lessons occur during the school day, on a rotating, pull-out schedule.
Students will receive one, 30-minute group lesson each week.
Where can I find the lesson schedule?
Lesson schedules are shared via email, and can be found on your respective teacher's website and Google Classroom.
Do I need to bring a music stand to school?
Leave your music stand at home. We have music stands to use at school!
What do students need in order to participate in a fun and successful lesson?
Students should come prepared each week with their instrument, music book, and instrument accessories.
Music stands can stay home for personal practice. Music stands are typically provided by the music vendor with an instrument rental.
Can I leave my instrument at school?
No! Your instrument arrives at school with you, and leaves with you to take home to play!
Those who love to play-- practice! And those who practice-- love to play!
What happens if I accidentally leave my instrument at home on my lesson day?
Students should report to their lesson to inform their teacher about their preparedness level for that day. Students will gain information on how to be successful for your next lesson.
Are there any commitments for students outside of the school day?
Students are expected to practice their instruments at home.
In preparation for concerts, rehearsals will be held in the morning before school on specific dates.
Will there be concerts/performances to look forward to this coming school year?
We are excited to return to a more typical concert season! Dates are our Department Website, and in the respective Handbook of each program.
Experienced players will have a Winter and Spring performance. Beginners' debut performance is held in the Spring.
Can students begin private lessons or attend an instrument camp over the summer?
We always encourage students to seek private instruction. Some music programs held over the summer will help prepare your child for band/orchestra in the fall, including the Elefante Jumpstart Program! You can also visit this resource for private instructors in the area.
