Back to School Night 2022

This is the presentation that I give on Back to School Night 2022! Please reach out with any concerns/comments/or questions regarding your child via email at elestrange@westfieldnjk12.org

I look forward to having your child in my social studies class this year!

Course Description:

The seventh-grade curriculum is inquiry-driven, with students formulating their own questions in addition to the essential questions provided for each unit. Throughout the year, students analyze social studies from multiple perspectives by consulting numerous primary and secondary sources, while assessing their validity and contextualization. As a result of their thorough research, students are encouraged to draw informed conclusions and provide evidence to support their discoveries.

The Westfield social studies curriculum infuses geography, history, economics, civics, and archaeology throughout the course to provide students with an inclusive understanding of the emergence of Europe from the Dark Ages, flourishing of culture and innovations during the Renaissance, and the founding of the United States as a new nation. This course references themes and concepts of the ancient world from sixth grade and provides a basis for the study of the modern world in eighth grade.
