Youth and Government (YAG), the spring counterpart of the WHS Model U.N. program, is a YMCA-sponsored mock legislative program in which students perform various roles related to state government. Students are assigned or selected for positions such as state legislators, judiciary members, lobbyists, assembly/senate speakers and clerks, and members of the Governor’s Cabinet. There is also a Youth Governor, who is elected the preceding year at the YAG conference. More than 400 students from nearly two dozen New Jersey high schools participate annually in the conference.
The dates of the 2019 Youth and Government Conference have been changed. The conference will be held Friday through Sunday, April 12-April 14, 2019 at the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel. This is the first weekend of Spring Break.
The Pre-Legislation session will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Monroe Township High School.
Additional information and forms will be available in January 2019.
