The first two weeks of 7th Grade Social Studies will focus on: acclimating students to a new teacher/school year, observing Patriot Day and Constitution Day with special lessons, and taking the baseline writing assessment. The writing assessment is not graded but just a demonstration of what skills students are starting the year with.

Over the next two weeks in 7th grade social studies we will be setting the stage for the rise of Rome. We will have a special lesson on 9/17/24 observing Constitution Day where students will create a School Bill of Rights. Next we will reinforce some geography skills with two geography activities. Students will learn about the myth of the founding of Rome. Finally, we will assign key vocabulary for studying the Roman Republic and go over life during this early period of Roman history.

For the next two weeks our 7th graders will be researching the achievements and contributions of Etruscan society. They will create a virtual museum with artifacts demonstrating Etruscan society. In addition we will begin our study of the early Roman Republic's government and the changes it's social structure went through.
