I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in English from the University of Delaware and my Master of Arts degree in Reading from Montclair State University. I hold certifications as a Reading Specialist and as a Reading Teacher. This is my 33rd year teaching in the Westfield Public Schools.
My teaching career began in Delaware where I taught sixth grade for two years. After moving to New Jersey, I continued my teaching career in Westfield as a fifth grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School, and spent five years teaching there. I then seized the opportunity to transfer to Edison Intermediate School where I have been teaching for the past 28 years as a sixth grade ELA teacher. I came to EIS because it gave me the opportunity to not only teach at the middle school level, but to teach my two favorite subjects, reading and writing! I love setting "the foundation" for my students to become deeper and more analytical thinkers in these two subjects as they begin their first year in middle school while also giving them the tools each student will need to become a well rounded, responsible, and kind person.
I live in Westfield with my husband and three children. All three of my children are graduates of the Westfield School System. Currently, my son is a 2020 graduate from the University of Delaware, my daughter is a 2022 graduate from The College of New Jersey, and my youngest daughter is a 2023 graduate of The Ohio State University and is currently completing her last year at Emory University School of Law.
My favorite pastimes are shopping, cooking, traveling, reading, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends. A few of my favorite musical groups are Coldplay, U2, Billy Joel, Journey, ABBA, the Beatles, and anything from Motown, the 1960s or the 1970s era. Some of my favorite places to vacation include the Jersey Shore, The Outer Banks, the Caribbean Islands, and especially Greece since both my and my husband's families are from there.
