Students enrolling full-time in the Westfall Digital Academy are doing so for the full length of the 2021-2022 school year.

Middle School Student Options:

Option 1: Full time through the Online Academy for students in grades 6, 7, &8 (6 online courses; 0 courses elsewhere*)

Option 3: A La Carte** for students in grade 8 (1 online course while taking 5-7 courses elsewhere*)

* Elsewhere includes courses taken at Westfall, Pickaway-Ross, or College Credit Plus programs.

** Note: If students are hoping to only take 1 online course, then they do NOT need to enroll in the Online Academy. Those students are considered “A La Carte” online students.

High School Students have three options:

Student Expectations

• For full time students, expect to be scheduled into all courses (4 cores + 2 electives) simultaneously, with weekly pacing expectations. Half-time students will be in 2 cores + 1 elective.

• Create a daily or weekly schedule for yourself to ensure that you are engaging regularly and making consistent progress in all of your courses.

• Look for and attend instructional opportunities offered through Google Meets, when appropriate.

• Check email, Progressbook, Apex, and Google Classroom daily. Read all feedback provided by teachers. Respond, as needed.

• Be prepared to complete most of your learning through online activities.

• Communicate with your teachers regularly and attend their office hours, particularly when you are struggling.

Parent Expectations

• Provide a low to moderate level of academic support while encouraging independence.

• Monitor student’s comprehension and grades through Google Classroom, Progressbook, and Apex.

• Encourage independence with support to learn time-management skills.

• Encourage your student to attend instructional opportunities offered through Google Meets.

• Communicate, as needed, with your student’s teacher while supporting student/teacher communication. Encourage your student to attend teachers’ office hours when needed.

Teacher Expectations

• Post high quality and age-appropriate online lessons daily through Google Classroom if using this platform.

• Provide timely and specific feedback for all online learning assessments through Progressbook, Google Classroom and/or Apex.

• Ensure that navigation in the course is always age-appropriate and intuitive.

• Post regular office hours through Google Meets to be accessible to address student needs.

• Announce and provide optional instructional opportunities through Google Meets.

• Be responsive in teaching in order to support each student’s individual growth.

• Communicate with parents when intervention is needed.
