Hello incoming 6th graders and welcome to the Middle School!
My name is Mrs. Stephens-Deaton, you can also call me Mrs. Deaton if you prefer. I run the Middle School Library and am your new go-to person for all of your iPad issues.
Here at the middle school we use the Dewey Decimal System to organize the books in the library. This means that Fiction books are sorted by the authors last name and Non-Fiction books use a number system (AKA Dewey Decimal System) from 001 all the way up to 999. We also use the Destiny Discover App for our online catalog where you can easily browse, search and even place holds on the books in the library.
Remember even if your teacher brings you to the library to get books, YOU are responsible for getting your books back to the library on time. You can always come to the library during passing periods or if you have time during class you can ask your teacher to come to the library then.
Some Important Library rules to remember:
Always sign in at the two designated computers when you visit the Library.
Be respectful of others and use a quiet voice to talk in the Library.
Leave the Library in better shape than you found it.
Be kind to the Books and return them to their spot on the shelf or to the circulation desk
