The International Coastal Cleanup at Weekapaug Breachway was a success!

On September 21st, students of the Westerly High School Environmental Club & Ms. Bontempo's 3rd grade class (Dunn's Corner Elementary School) with other Save The Bay volunteers picked up 159 pounds of ugly and dangerous shoreline trash. We scoured parking lots; we climbed over and into rocks; we walked paths and dunes; over 1 1/2 miles! We recorded what we found on data sheets to see what are the largest components entering our marine areas so it can be included in the Ocean Conservancy's annual report on marine debris.

Sign up here for another beach clean-up!
