Hi Decathletes!
I wanted to wish you all a splendid holiday. The Rhode Island Academic Decathlon Chapter is organizing the following. It is a fantastic opportunity, and very timely not only in terms of this year's theme, but your future lives as well, since AI is here to stay. RIAD hasn't firmed up a day yet, or rather afternoon; I will keep you posted.
" The RIAD Board makes a practice of organizing a Social Event for all teams. This year's theme of Technology & Humanity has prompted the Board to organize an event at New England Institute of Technology. The Robotics Department will talk with decathletes about issues facing AI decisions and the use of technology. Following the presentation, we plan to provide some prompts that may be helpful to students in writing their Speech or Essay. To complete the event, we will provide some snacks/food and show the movie "Ex Machina" (or similar)."
Just a footnote: As you might have guessed, Ex Machina derives from Deus Ex Machina!!
