The Character Sheet is your primary reference for understanding your role in Sengoku.
Every player, except members of the Bakufu team, assumes the role of a historical figure belonging to a clan, sect, or political faction active during the Sengoku period. Your Character Sheet contains the information necessary to understand your character's position, responsibilities, and objectives within the game.
Unlike many roleplaying games, Sengoku characters are not defined by statistics or abilities. Instead, they are defined by their relationships, authority, responsibilities, ambitions, and place within Japan's political order.
The top section of the Character Sheet provides basic information about your character, including:
Name
Faction affiliation
Rank within the faction
Position or title
Other identifying information
Every character begins the game with a set of goals.
These goals represent what your character hopes to accomplish. Some may align with your faction's interests, while others reflect personal ambitions or responsibilities.
Goals are intended to guide your decisions, not dictate them. How you pursue them is entirely up to you.
The Background section explains your character's situation at the start of the game.
This may include:
Your relationship to your faction
Significant historical events
Existing political challenges
Important allies and rivals
Sources of influence or authority
The context behind your goals
The Background section provides the perspective from which your character views the world. Other characters may have different information, different priorities, or very different interpretations of the same events.
This area records important events affecting your character throughout the game. Appointments, political developments, military achievements, changes in status, and other significant events may be recorded here as the game progresses. Some history entries may also include a Causality section. This provides additional context about why an event occurred, what decisions led to it, or how it connects to broader developments within the game. Causality entries are intended to help players understand the consequences of actions and the unfolding story of their character.
