Exercise Ideas: During this time, it is valuable and important to try and exercise. Not only will it help you physically, but there are emotional and mental benefits as well! Exercising can be simple and fun! Please feel free to utilize these ideas as they fit best into your routine.

Please see below for some exercise activities to try and incorporate into your routine. These exercise activities can be utilized as fun ways to get your body moving!


Dice Activity

Roll the dice to see which exercise to do! Have fun!!!

Name Exercises

Have fun spelling your name and doing the exercises that match your letters! You can think up different words to spell and do different actions!

Core Muscle Exercises

POPCORN/EGG POSITION

SUPERMAN POSITION

PLANK POSITION

REVERSE TABLE

BRIDGE

How long can you hold each position? You can repeat the cycle of exercises for an extra challenge! Have fun!!!

Balloon Activities

(Using latex free or a lightweight ball instead if there are latex allergies or sensitivities.)

  • Balloon Tennis: You can make racquets out of paper plates and attach a ruler or painter's stick to the back. How many times can you hit it back and forth?

  • Other Balloon Ideas:

    • Keep the balloon in the air with your hand for as many taps as you can!

    • Tie a balloon to the ceiling and try to hit it with a cardboard tube.

    • Try to kick a balloon to another person or to a wall as in soccer.

    • See if you can catch a balloon in a funnel or a plastic cup with a wide mouth.

Tightrope Balance

Supplies: Twine, Thin Rope or Painter's Tape

(Sidewalk chalk if outside)

  • Make a pattern to try and walk on, staying on the rope.

  • Walk in different ways across: forwards, backwards, sideways, heel/toe

  • Make the rope in different patterns: straight, zig zag, curly cues

  • You can make the activity more purposeful by having your child take objects across (blocks, puzzle pieces)

  • You can hold your child's hand for assistance with balancing if needed

  • Have fun!


Toss It Tic Tac Toe

Supplies: 10 Rolled up socks (5 light and 5 dark)

Painters Tape, Clothesline rope, or Sidewalk chalk

1) Make your Tic Tac Toe board (Tape, rope, or chalk)

2) Separate your socks into 2 piles (light and dark)

3) Stand at an agreed upon spot and try to get 3 in a row!


Deck of Cards Exercises

Pick a Card to Determine what exercise to do!

Heart = Wall sit

Club = Run in place

Diamond = Wall push ups

Spade = Touch toes and Reach up High

Example: 7 of Hearts= 7 second wall sit


Hopscotch

Cardio Focus: Hopscotch

Hopscotch can happen inside or outside. Use sidewalk chalk outside and painters tape inside. If you put your hopscotch board in a hallway, it can be a reminder to add a little hop-jump-hop when you walk by!
