Module 1: Place Value

Module 1 is all about building upon and improving on the following skills:

MATH1. Mathematical Problem Solving: Apply mathematical problem solving strategies to create efficient and high quality solutions to challenging problems.

• 1.1: I can gather, extract and organize important information to formulate the main problem to solve.
• 1.2: I can visualize and translate a situation or context into an appropriate mathematical framework or model.
• 1.3: I can choose and apply mathematical problem-solving strategies.
• 1.4: I can test one or more solutions

MATH2. Mathematical Argumentation and Reflection: Build, defend and critique mathematical arguments while reflecting on my own problem-solving process.

• 2.1: I can state my solution and explain my process using mathematical language and correct mathematical notation.
• 2.2: I can defend my solution.
• 2.3: I can critique the mathematical thinking of myself and others.
• 2.4: I can evaluate my problem-solving process and come up with ideas for how I might use more efficient or effective processes in the future.
