About this Stepping stone:

In this stepping stone, you are going to write all the information about your star, its lifecycle and the elements that will form over its lifecycle. Using this information create an outline a first draft of your technical write.

Part of your job with this paper is to decide which paper is most appropriate for the information you want to convey.   




Technical Informational Paper- this format  is for conveying information about a scientific topic or concept.   Relevant Lab report data and information can be used/displayed in an informational paper.  Models can be used to further convey the information being presented.  There is NO stated opinion in this kind of paper.  This paper needs to have an introduction with a clear topic with 3 supporting details, at least one paragraph each for each supporting detail, and a conclusion.   Including graphs, tables, and models can be helpful to making your points.  This kind of paper should be written in Objective Tone.  There is an article below that describes what objective tone is.   You do not need to have an investigation for this format, but you can use your results if you wish.


Argumentative Paper about a Scientific topic- this format is used to defend a scientific opinion or thesis statement.   Lab report data, models, and other people’s opinions and data on the topic serve as support for the thesis.  This IS an opinion paper.   This paper needs to have an introduction with an argument claim with 3 supporting details, rebuttal (opposing argument), and final conclusion.   Graphs, tables, and models can be helpful if they directly support your claim.  This kind of paper does not have to be written in objective tone.  You do not need to have an investigation for this format, but you can use your results if you wish.
