Your high school may have scholarships as well.
Some essays will require an essay, some won't.
Scholarships alone are often not enough to cover all college expenses. Check this template for a sample of college expenses.
WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO HAVE:
YOUR STORY - Some scholarships will require an essay. Don't let that intimidate you. Just be you and tell your story. Here is what they typically look for in your story - authenticity, focus and consistency in your area of interest.
TIME - Give yourself plenty of time (months if possible) before the submission deadline to think about, draft and write your essay.
Grants
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Schools you apply to may have grant. Check their website.
Federal, state, and college grants are available. They are based on financial need, field of study, and other qualifiers. Grants are free money that doesn't need to be repaid if the requirements are met, such as maintaining a certain GPA or completing the program. However, grants are often not enough to cover all college expenses.
