This course is offered 3rd quarter only for all 7th grade students and is intended to introduce students to the American legal system and to interest them in the Mock Trial class and participation in the Los Angeles County Mock Trial Competition offered in the 8th grade.
Students will have a cursory overview of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights as the foundation for our American legal system.
Students will examine hypothetical cases that highlight various amendment issues and will participate in class discussions to develop critical thinking skills.
Students will conduct legal research, learn legal terminology and study trial preparation and courtroom procedure.
A “passing” grade requires that a student participate in class activities and discussions and complete all homework assignments on time.
