26th September 2021: Spiritual Discipline of Worship

Big Idea: Worship is our response to God because of who He is and His love for us.

Scripture Passage: John 4:1-24

Memory Verse:

Hebrews 13:15-16

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise - the fruit of lips that openly profess His name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Lesson objectives:


Know

  • Define worship and it is not just singing songs to praise Him.

  • When we know who God is and choose to value God above all earthly things, we can worship Him in many ways through our daily lives.

  • The different ways of worshipping God.


Feel

  • Recognise God is worthy of our worship because of His great love for us

  • Acknowledge that true worship shows God is the highest value, worthy of praise, and most admiration.

  • Eager to respond to God in worship in all areas of your life.


Do

  • Identify and apply the different ways of worshipping God.

  • Discuss areas in your life that you can put God first, instead of other worldly priorities.

  • Create an expression of worship to God and share it with your friends.

12th September 2021: The Book of Daniel L5

Big Idea: We need to have integrity in all that we do because God is sovereign over everything.

Scripture Passage: Daniel 6

Memory Verse:

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Lesson objectives:


Know

  • God deserves all of our praise.

  • God will protect us, when we faithfully pray and obey Him.

  • God will lead us on the right path when we follow Him. (Proverbs 3:5-6)


Feel

  • Eager to pray and praise God.

  • Confident that God will take care of us when we trust in Him.

  • Challenged to live each day as obedient and faithful believers for God.


Do

  • Pray and give thanks to God daily.

  • Read the Bible daily.

  • Memorise Bible verse(s).

  • Trust and obey God faithfully in our daily life.

15th August 2021: The Book of Daniel L3

Big Idea: We can stand firm in adversity because God is sovereign over everything.

Scripture Passage: Daniel 3

Memory Verse:

Ephesians 6:13

Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Lesson objectives:


Know

  • God is sovereign through history

  • God is faithful and will keep us resolute in times of adversity

  • God watches over us just as He has watched over Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego

Feel

  • Comforted knowing that God is in control in all circumstances

  • In awe and humbled before such an awesome God

  • Encouraged to live out our Christian faith even among non-Christian friends

Do

  • Trust God, like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego

  • Boldly demonstrate the Christian faith to our non-Christian friends.





1st August 2021: The Book of Daniel L1

Big Idea: When we obey God our king by choosing to do right, He blesses our obedience.

Scripture Passage: Daniel 1

Memory Verse:

Joshua 1:7

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.”

Lesson objectives:


Know

  • God was the king of Daniel's life and he chose to be obedient to God's law

  • God helped Daniel and his friends remain healthy when they chose obedience

  • God blessed them with the king's favor

Feel

  • Acknowledge God as the king of their lives and know His laws.

  • Responsible for the choices they make

  • Thankful that God blesses our obedience

Do

  • Respond by making choices that are good and right

  • Love and worship God in everything they do
