Level 4 Respond using understandings and information

NEED TO CREATE TASK

Task

Click on the link to the text in the google doc to the left. Using the information from the text write down the answers to the questions. Answers must be in your own words and use direct information from the text. At level 4 readers are required to be answering in paragraphs and to show they are able to evaluate, analyse and interpret information.

Remember to look for

• Key Words
• opening statements at the start of a paragraph
• Pictures and other clues in the text
• Words related to your question

Task

Make a copy of the template to your left. Choose an article or text. Fill in each area to help you gain a deeper understanding of what you have read. You can even use this template for short texts or paragraphs.

Success Criteria

• Use your 5W's to help gather information about the text
• Write down what you think the main idea in the text is
• Write down the author's purpose
• Write down a short summary of the article or text.

Task

Make a copy of the template to the right. You will need to read 3 different text related to the same topic. A good way to start this task is to ask yourself a wonder question

I wonder...

You can then read three texts based on your wonder. Add information about the texts into the source box's. You then can make links about what each text says about your wonder question. You then write your new understanding into the My Interpretation box.

Congratulations you have just synthesised and made an interpretation.
