Place:
The deserted Death Valley town of Death Valley Junction, CA, also known by its original Spanish name, Amargosa. Once a Borax Mining town, it was abandoned for 40 years until Marta Becket moved there and created the one-room Amargosa Opera House, which she performed in for the rest of her life whether anyone came to see her or not.
Now essentially a ghost town, the empty Opera House remains alongside the Amargosa Hotel, which has 13 rooms and houses a range of occasional travelers: Death Valley tourists, free spirit explorers, Marta Becket enthusiasts, people who are looking to get away from it all and those who are losing their way in the hopes of finding themselves.
