Interactive Arts Alberta (IAA) is a not-for-profit that has evolved over time to grow and bolster the game development community across Alberta.
IAA is here to make Alberta a great place to make great games. We treasure and encourage input from anyone who has a stake in the game development industry, from studios of all sizes, to students, and even adjacent industries who support game development. Our community is large and diverse; all opinions and efforts are welcomed.
We have been involved in several efforts to make game development in Alberta better. We have been a community builder, a key stakeholder in the development of the provincial Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit (IDMTC), a collector of Alberta-specific industry data, a stakeholder providing input for the Edmonton Art's Council's 10-Year Plan to Transform Arts and Heritage in Edmonton, and we have run epic celebrations of games and game development like GDX Edmonton.
If you are unable to attend the 2019 AGM, we encourage you to come out to our other community events, such as our monthly GameCamp Edmonton sessions, or our weekly game development sessions. We can also be found at such events as Dark Matters, and Global Game Jam. Check out our Meetup page for a schedule, and stay in touch on Discord!
