FAQ’s
1. What are rooming situations going to be? How many to a room?
- 5 to a room, we’ll ask for student input with who they would like to room with, but ultimately, it’s up to the directors
2. What’s going to be the food situation?
- Breakfast is covered. Bring money for dinner at Downtown Disney on Friday night, Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday lunch. Also, consider snacks your child may want to buy at the rest stop or any treats your child might want to buy while enjoying their time at Disneyland. We will have quick snacks (e.g. bags of chips and water) for the students in between the competition and Disneyland.
3. Where are we staying? Where is the Festival?
- Disneyland hotel (TBD), Cypress College, CA
4. Will this be televised or something parents can see live? Can parents come just to see the concert?
- This event will not be televised. Parents are welcome to join us, but will have to make their own arrangements.
5. What if family members want to come? Can they check students out?
- Yes! If parents want to come and then take their child to Disneyland after Tour, please sign them out, and they will be your responsibility after the competition.
6. Chaperone information
- Will have to pay their own way, but can get some money off if you volunteer at fundraising events
- Forms available at the Parent meeting – Nov 8th and 9th
7. Curfews and tape your doors
- There will be strict curfews since we cannot miss buses and the competition. Please help your student set some boundaries with their phones late at night because we will enforce the curfews to ensure they get good rest. We will put tape on the outside of their doors. If the tape is torn, we will know that the students left their room after curfew and they will be disqualified DURING the trip. The parent/guardian will have to pay for the student’s way back and their own expense.
8. What happens if a child is acting up at home, should they still go?
- We will leave the parenting up to you and your discretion if the student deserves to go. Ultimately, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for students, so help them have those clear boundaries and let us know how we can support you
9. Where will chaperones be – rooms wise?
- Same floor as each gendered student, but NOT in the same room as students
10. How many bags and what to pack?
- At the last meeting, March 8th and 9th, we will have a packing list available. We are still trying to figure things out
11. Remind app
- More to come on this. For right now, please email Mr. Tolifson and Mrs. Casey if you need further information, not found in the package or in this list of FAQ’s
12. How much cost?
- $590 per student. Look at the info package for the payment calendar
13. Medication?
- If medication needs to be administered by an adult, please let us know ahead of time. Most students at this age know to take their own medication, but if they are on ADHD or seizure medication, or others of this type, please let us know in advance so that we can plan for it.
14. What is safety like during the trip?
- Students will be with leaders during the road trips up, with attendance checks at each stop. In Disneyland, the students will be required to wear specific Mountain Sky shirts for accountability. Changing out of this shirt for any reason while at Disney will entail them sitting in the Disneyland security offices as they await a parent/guardian picking them up. We will also have mandatory scheduled check-in times while we are at Disneyland.
15. How can parents get involved and volunteer?
- Lots of ways! Each fundraising opportunity – Haunted House, Winter Wonderland, That’s Amore
- If you would like to sponsor a student or another student’s portion, let us know
