Sunday Blast

As the Center goes through a cycle of change, we welcome you to join us as we find balance and stability to support our children. We are thankful to have such a wonderful GLC community of support. GLC Spelling Bee:

CONGRATULATIONS to our GLC Spelling Bee Winners! These students will be participating in our school Spelling Bee on Tuesday, December 5th. 

The GLC Spelling Bee winners are:

3rd Grade - Liam W. (alternative-Emmett S.)

4th Grade - Mason B. (alternative-Natasha M.)

5th Grade – Jordan G. (alternative-Victor P.)

6th Grade – Maxwell B. (alternative – Nathan T.)

Block Infographic Winners:

In Block, we challenged our students to learn the 7 elements of a pourquoi. Then they were asked to create an infographic (something that has more pictures than words) to explain the elements to others. We had a friendly bracket competition and as a center voted Bennet and Ivan’s infographic as the winner. Way to go Bennet and Ivan! We had so much fun, but more importantly the students now know the elements of a pourquoi and are prepared to write their own. 

Project Updates:

In Block, students will be using the information they have learned about their tribe to write a pourquoi. This is a fictional story that explains why something is the way it is.  We are excited to see their creativity in explaining something they learned about their tribe.

In Cube, Slide presentations should be completed. Last week and this week we have been focusing on creating an artifact for their chosen tribe. Some students have brought in materials and we have some materials available within the GLC. Please touch base with your child to see if they would like additional materials to work on the craft and what ideas they have for how they are going to make their vision a reality. Students created a materials list in Google Classroom. The artifacts are due December 7th.
