Hello Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for taking time to visit the Mountain Sky Science Department website. This website is to serve as a base for any science resources. The Mountain Sky Science Department strives to engage students in hands on learning, encourage students to keep exploring, and enhance their science knowledge by using the science and engineering standards. Please explore the tabs with resources and feel free to look at the individualized teacher websites linked below.
Thank you,

Both 7th grade science teams plan and work cohesively to ensure students on both teams are getting rigorous, quality science instruction. We focus on Earth sciences for the first two quarters of the year, specifically the geosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. For quarter three we move to life sciences by focusing on cells, their functions, and how cells make up larger systems. Fourth quarter focuses on physical sciences like Newton's Laws and electromagnetism. We love to incorporate both hands-on and virtual labs and engineering practices to maximize student learning and connect the learning to real life.

The 8th grade science curriculum is designed to be thought provoking, challenging, and engaging. The focus of our content includes; The diversity of living things, earth and human activity, chemistry, and geologic processes and history. We integrate several different teaching strategies across all the units including hands on activities, research projects (individual and group based), and webquests. Our goal is to not only get our students excited about science, but also give them the tools to understand how the world works.

The Advanced Program at Mountain Sky services advanced and gifted students. Students that are tested as non-verbally gifted receive their gifted services by being placed in Advanced Science. This class focuses on rigor, problem solving, and engineering to prepare them for advanced classes in high school. Middle school science can be quite the change for students and we strive to give the students a diverse education in varied science topics. In 7th and 8th grade Advanced Science we provide multiple ways for students to show understanding by participating in labs, engineering activities, and other hands-on experiences to maximize learning.
