Advanced Math

About the Program

This course is offered to students in 5th-8th grade. Students explore both on grade level and above grade level content. The curriculum was developed by the WESD with the students and state standards being the main focus. Students in 8th grade advanced math are offered Algebra and the curriculum is provided by the Glendale Union High School District.

What Students Can Look Forward To

In advanced math students will be appropriately challenged by incorporating above grade level skills with skills from their current grade level. To delve deeper into the content, students will explore real world applications and apply their math knowledge. They will be assigned independent practice problems as well as projects to demonstrate their knowledge of the various standards covered throughout the course. Students will also participate in multiple review activities to ensure they fully understand the concepts. This course is designed to accelerate and advance students’ math knowledge. The curriculum will come from a variety of resources such as CMP3, Saxon, and Engage New York.
