"Often finding meaning is not about doing things differently; it is about seeing familiar things in new ways."
-Rachel Naomi Remen
December found us playing games in math to review ratios, proportions and percents. We also used our PBL knowledge to teach the third graders about what a PBL is and how to be successful at completing a PBL.
Happy Thanksgiving to our SOI 6 families!
Some of our students starting “feasting” a bit early…on sweets!
Congrats to those who completed the November Edmentum Challenge.

We are so proud of our sixth graders for presenting their SOI Shoe PBL’s! They utilized all of our Fab Lab equipment and incorporated the “arts” into their designs and presentations as well. Stay tuned to find out which which group delivered the winning campaign to each grade level!

Our 6th graders "FOUND their SHINE" as they created unique works of art using up-cycled materials. Each person was inspired by our class novel, The Junction of Sunshine and Lucky.
Doing a little math in PBL today as we carefully measure and create labeled sketches of our shoe boxes. Next step--Use CorelDraw to design shoe box covers to advertise the shoes we design.
We are SUPER proud of our "Super Stars" who met the September Edmentum Challenge! They all earned a fun-filled afternoon of FUN with friends!
Fun Run Friday
Today was a day full of fun, running, and games! Our students ran hard during the fun run...some even made it a full 5k in their short time. We got to watch Mr. Bonick get a "pie" in the face, and many of us enjoyed our September Edmentum reward. What a way to end the month of September!
ADVERTISING
Our students were fully engaged while analyzing ads and looking closely at the following: products, color schemes, logos, slogans, product sizing, information, and techniques. We can't wait to see how all of this carries over into our Shoe PBL advertisements!

Thanks to The Junction of Sunshine and Lucky for inspiring us! :)
