Week of 9/11-9/15
This week we will be starting Chapter 3 "Understanding Multiplication and Division." Think about the following question......How are multiplication and division related? By the end of Chapter 3 you should be able to answer this question!
There are several videos you can watch if you need some assistance or just a "refresher" in how multiplication and division are related.

This week we are still continuing Chapter 3 on multiplication and division properties, as well as the rules we need to follow in order to understand them. Our focus this week is on factors and multiples, still trying to answer the question "How are multiplication and division related?" The following videos will help you understand some of this weeks lessons.

Week of 9/25-9/29
This week in math we will be starting Chapter 4 working on multiplication and multiplying by one digit numbers. The essential question you should be able to answer at the end of this unit is "How can I communicate multiplication?" The following content will help you understand what is going on in class. We have also added what is called "Intervention Practice." Some students who need extra practice on remedial skills to support their learning in the classroom will work on these in small group rotations. However, we wanted to make them available to everyone, even just as a refresher to some skills. It never hurts to review and practice! If you download and choose to work on them at home, bring them in and a teacher will correct them for you.

Week of 10/2-10/13
In math we will continue to answer the question "How can I communicate multiplication?" The lessons these weeks focus on multiplying a one digit number with a two digit one, as well as multiplying multiple digit numbers. Also, the need for regrouping sometimes when multiplying numbers. Take a look at the resources below, and some from last week if you need a little extra help and practice.

This week we will be wrapping up Chapter 4. Please review any of the past material on Chapter 4 on this site, along with some reteaching and enrichment activities below. The focus this week is to apply what we've learned so far to open ended and extended answer word problems
Week of 10/23-10/28
This week we will be starting Chapter 5 in Math. The essential question we will be working on is "How can I multiply a two-digit number?" We will be taking a pretest before starting the chapter. Click on the links below to watch videos on how to multiply two digit numbers.

Week of 10/30/2017
Happy Halloween!! We continue Chapter 5 with multiplying two digit numbers. The first student that brings one of the completed resources in below by Monday, they will receive a Halloween candy treat. Continue looking at the videos and websites from the previous week to help you through the remainder of the chapter. I see division on the horizon for our next unit!
Week of November 11/6/2017
Mrs. Venson has decided to push back the math test for 11/3 to 11/6. There is no homework over the weekend. However, this will give the students two extra days to practice and study. We did a review today in class. Again, look back at the activities and videos from this chapter on the website. Also, make sure to play some of the games to reinforce concepts taught in class.
Week of 11/13-11/17
As mentioned before, we will be starting Chapter 6 this week, which is on division. The essential question for this chapter is "How does division affect numbers?" PLEASE use the resources below. This is a challenging chapter. Although we are doing division, students should continue to work on multiplication facts. Please spend at least one hour each night working on math. You don't have to do an hour all at once. Break it up into 10-15 minute intervals, using the online material and website links below. We are looking at our first quiz by the end of the week. If your child needs extra help, they need to tell a teacher or send an email so we can arrange time to help them.
Try the math games below to help you learn how to divide. Oh, by the way........the first student next week who brings me a completed reteach or enrichment sheet from above gets a cool prize. It must be correct when I check it!
