Tips on How to Help Your Students be Successful
First, give yourself and your student a ton of grace: This is a transition for everyone, and teaching is tricky.
Schedule learning activities into small chunks of time (no more than 20 minutes) and give plenty of breaks. For example, read for 20 minutes then take a 15 minute break before 20 minutes of math.
If at anytime frustration happens, take a break. When kids are overwhelmed, learning cannot take place.
Encourage students to be creative around the house. When students are coloring, building, playing and creating, they are learning.
Outside of learning, limit screen time.
Encourage students to get some sunshine in the yard.
When in doubt, something is better than nothing. If students practice basic math facts for multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction and read for 20-30 minutes a day, they will be in good shape.
