Collaboration

Message from Mr Snell

Collaboration has most definitely been our theme this week. Thank you to all families who joined us for parents evenings. These sessions are an important opportunity to find out about the progress your child is making at school together with a discussion around how we can work together to continue to improve outcomes and ensure your child thrives. If you were not able to attend, please make contact with us to arrange a convenient time to meet - most likely a phone call.

Collaboration was also evident on Thursday when Year 5 and Year 6 represented the school at an intergenerational singing event in Bath. It was a really enjoyable experience and being one of only 4 four schools to be invited, a great opportunity for our children to celebrate being young at heart with older members of our society. The children sang three songs on stage - Make Someone Happy, A Spring Thing and I Have A Voice - which celebrated the importance of collaborating together to make the world a better place. The mayor of Bath was also impressed with our singing!

The importance of collaborating across the generations was also evident on Wednesday when we were visited by Kathy, an ex-pupil of Welton who was at the school in 1946! She had a tour of the school and spent time talking with a small group of children about what the school was like when she was here. I shared the original school register from the years when she attended and it was a huge delight to find her name and the name of her friends! I wonder if our current pupils will return to Welton when they are in their 80s!

With thanks for your continued support,

Mr Snell :)

Sports Day!

We are very excited to announce that Sports Day will be happening on Friday 17th May this year. Like previous years, we would like to take the opportunity to invited parents in for lunch at 12:30. On the day, we will be joined by Bath Rugby in the morning taking us through a range of sporting activities. In the afternoons, parents will be invited to stay and watch the races.

EYFS and KS1 races will happen first and then children will be taken in to do something out of the heat. If parents want to stay and watch the KS2 races, they are more than welcome. Please note, if you decide to go home after the KS1 races, you will not be able to collect your child until 3:15.

We are very excited for Sports Day and can't wait to enjoy this with all of you.

Welton Sing!

Well done to the children in Year 5 and Year 6 who performed at the Bath Pavillion on Thursday in front of a big audience and the mayor! The theme of the event was 'Young at Heart' and was a celebration through song. The children did us proud - I'm sure they won't forget the huge conga dance that took place!!

Exciting Visitor!

We were delighted to be visited by ex-pupil Kathy Butler this week. Kathy was a pupil at Welton in 1946! She shared her experiences of school at that time and enjoyed talking with the children about what life was like when she was a child!

Gardening supplies needed

We are hoping to develop our gardening skills at Welton this spring with a new gardening club at lunchtime and a gardening club for children in OWLS. If you have any surplus plug plants, seeds, equipment or compost please speak to Mrs Hollidge.

Owls Club - Allotment Update

A HUGE shout out to Holly (Ernie and Gilbert's mum and joint chair of the PTFA)  for working so hard to get our allotment sorted. Thank you so much Holly for all your hard work. The children at Owls are going to really benefit from this allotment and we can’t wait start using it.

Music Lessons at Welton

After our fantastic musical week, last week, we are pleased to announce that the West of England Music and Arts (WEMA) will be offering instrument lessons at Welton.

Please take a look at their offer, below, if it may be of interest. We are also looking at opening an orchestra as part of our after school club offer so please watch this space.

It is a really exciting time, at Welton, and it is great to see our music really beginning to grow. :)

Plea from Wren Class

As the weather gets nicer it is a perfect opportunity for our children in Wren class to take their learning outdoors. Please can we ask, again, that parents do not go into the Reception outdoor space until the bell goes at 8:45. This is to give Mrs Blackmore and Mrs Taylor time to set up. Many thanks for your support with this - we would hate to have to lock the gates in the morning.

Illness and Attendance at Welton

Many thanks to everyone for there efforts in trying to reduce lateness. :)
