Autumn Term
We are so excited to get going with our learning this term heading back to the Stone Age in History which will feature our very own Stone Age Day and workshop on Wednesday 30th September.
We will be writing fiction and nonfiction texts and refining our skills with expanded noun phrases and grreat descriptive language. Alongside our writing, we will be reading a range of high quality texts in guided reading to help us practise our inference and retrieval skills. In Maths we will be focusing on place value and then moving on to addition and subtraction.
Across our curriculum we will be learning new skills and deepening our knowledge of new and known topics, especially as part of our new Team Time afternoons. Every Thursday afternoon we will be enjoying PE with Mr Lyle and taking part in Life Skills with Mrs Tarrant. This new enrichment will empower our learners to have new and exciting skills, as well as develop new ones.
What will we be learning this term? Here's our termly overview letter.
Fortnightly updates
Week 4 and 5
It has been another busy pair of weeks with Stone Age Day being a real highlight last week. We loved seeing the children get involved in everything the day had to offer- asking our visitor pertinent questions and handling all the artefacts with respect and care. Enjoy looking at the photos below! We have continued to develop and hone our descriptive skills in English and have learnt about prepositions, conjunctions and similes in order to bring our writing to life.
As we move into the next couple of weeks, we will be carrying out some assessments which will inform our planning and interventions for the coming term. If you haven't yet made an appointment for parent's evening, this can be done on Arbor! Thank you!
Week 3
We have continued to get practical with our Maths learning this week from comparing objects and numbers to estimating where they belong on a numberline. In Art, we have started our unit on 'Sculpture' and it was brilliant to see them work together to explore how we can slot and join things together without the need for glue or tape.
Week 1 and 2
What a great start to our year. The children have settled in really well and we are becoming comfortable with our new routines and expectations. We have jumped head first into our learning and have shown how fantastic Kingfishers really are. We've been revisiting place value and investigating new, bigger numbers. We've written the start of our own stories using expanded noun phrases. In Geography we've found out where Europe is and which oceans/seas surround it. Best of all, we've started learning French!
Meet our wonderful team.
