What a fantastic Christmas Fayre this evening! I can't believe Father Christmas actually took time out from his busy schedule to visit us! Amazing! Thank you to all who came and supported us. The atmosphere around the fayre was buzzing - we are all part of a great community. I hope the children sleep well tonight after all the sweets and excitement! Thank you so much to the PTFA for giving up so much time to plan and put this event on for the benefit of our school. Without their tireless commitment to putting on these events they would simply not happen - so please do consider helping with future events. Thank you to those who stepped in to help this evening, particularly with tidying up afterwards! Many hands make light work! Thank you.
It's been another super busy week with so many events and opportunities for your children however this week I want to say thank you to all parents and carers who are working so hard to ensure that attendance at school is such a high priority. I know that you are all aware that attendance is a big issue nationally and there is a clear commitment from the government to ensure that children are in school all day, every day. As it currently stands, our attendance rate is slightly above the national average which is fantastic to see however there is still work to be done, particularly with regards to lateness. Since the beginning of the academic year, there have been 314 recorded lates at Welton!
Now, I know just as you do that traffic and recycling trucks sometimes delay the journey to school however all families need to allow enough time to ensure that children are in school before the register is taken. To remind you, we expect children to be in school at 8.40am (gates open at 8.30am). From this time children will be welcomed into class and will begin the day with early morning activities that build on the previous day's learning and prepare them for the day ahead. To miss this puts your child at a disadvantage as their friends will be more prepared to approach the day's learning with confidence - and make better progress. The register is taken at 8.55am but please don't aim for this time. Please be in school at 8.40am. I will continue to monitor this over the next few weeks and as we move into the new year, make this a new year's resolution!
With thanks for your continued support,
Mr Snell :)

On Thursday, we were joined by the Bath Parent Carer forum who came in to talk to parents about neurodivergence. Many thanks if you attended as this helps us as a school to shape our teaching and support for these children as we continue to give them the very best. Following this, there are two further events for your diary. These sessions are very much shaped by parents so if there is something you would like to know more about, please let me or Mrs Allen know.
Dates for your diary
Friday 6th February 2026 - Session 2
Thursday 26th March 2026 - Session 3
Here are a few shots from our Christmas Fayre. Thank you so much to everyone who attended and helped out. We really appreciate you taking the time to come and join us to support the school.
We would like to extend a huge thanks to the PTFA who give up endless hours to help make our school the best it can be. They truly are all super stars.
Look out for the rest of the dates for this year. If you could lend a hand at any event, we would be extremly grateful.
What an incredible day we had travelling back to Ancient Greece! Our Y4 Greek Day was a resounding success, filled with delicious feasting, brilliant engineering, and high-stakes competition.
Here’s a look at the highlights:
A Feast Fit for Gods: Our Greek Food Tasting was a huge hit! Everyone enjoyed sampling traditional treats and learning about the staples of the Mediterranean diet.
Engineers of Troy: The creativity and teamwork displayed during the Trojan Horse creation challenge were astounding. We saw some truly innovative designs—proving our participants have the cunning of Odysseus!
Glory in the Arena: The energy during our Mini-Olympics was electrifying! From modified javelin throws to races, participants embraced the spirit of the ancient games, competing fiercely and celebrating every victory.
Thank you to everyone who participated and made Greek Day such a memorable and fun learning experience. We are already looking forward to our next historical journey!
What a fantastic performance by our swim team at the swimming gala held this Thursday at Midsomer Norton Pool! Our children competed brilliantly against eight other schools and swam their hearts out, achieving a very respectable 4th Place overall finish!
A huge round of applause and congratulations goes to Grace and Marley, who both showed outstanding skill and determination, each bringing home two well-deserved medals!
We also want to give a massive shout-out to Bradley for his exceptional sportspersonship and all-round attitude. His constant energy in cheering on his peers and checking in on them throughout the competition truly made him a real leader on the day.
We are incredibly proud of every single swimmer who took part!
Y3 had a fantastic afternoon on Monday and were treated to an afternoon exploring The Stone and Iron Age. Through drama and movement, we learnt about how society changed and adapted as time passed. Kingfisher class had plenty of questions to ask our visitor and really got stuck into the tasks she set them.
On a chilly December morning, Kingfishers headed to St. John's Church to consolidate their R.E learning. They were warmly welcomed by Father Phillip and Reverend Guy who were more than happy to give them a tour of the church and answer the wide range of questions posed to them. A real highlight was being able to stand in the pulpit (some couldn't quite see over the top!) and have a go at ringing the bells. Kingfishers were both respectful and inquisitive and we were very proud of how well they represented the school.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at our recent Parents in PE session! It was so lovely to see parents from Years 1 and 2 join us in the hall to take part in a variety of challenges alongside their children. The energy was infectious, and everyone had a great time working together.
A particular highlight was the fun game of 'Sharks in the Water', which brought lots of laughter and excitement! Thank you to all the parents who came along to support and participate—your involvement makes these sessions truly special.
We also want to remind our Year 5 children that this week will be their final Parents in PE session before they move on. We look forward to seeing the Year 5 parents for one last energetic session!
Take a look at our class pages below! We will be updating these on the school website in the coming weeks!
This spring Stagecoach Midsomer Norton will be performing the incredible Matilda the Musical.
We're so excited that our talented students will get to step into the world of Roald Dahl's beloved story. This show is all about bravery, creativity, and standing up for what's right. If you know a child who might like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. Enrolments for our next term are now OPEN.
Classes run every Saturday morning at Welton Primary School starting on the 10th of Jan. The performance will be on the 22nd April at the Dragonfly Theatre. Visit our website or give Principal Charlie a call on 07435050703 to see if there are spaces for your child's age group and book a 2-week trial today!
Thank you 🙂
