This week's value has been Courage and in my assembly on Monday we talked about what courage looks like in our lives. In particular, we discussed how having courage is about being brave when faced with challenges however like a lion, courage doesn't always roar. We thought about how sometimes, courage is a quiet voice at the end of a day that whispers 'I will try again tomorrow'. This is such an important point to learn as we agreed that it's ok to fail but it's what we do to pick ourselves up and motivate ourselves to go again that's important. Overcoming failure is a huge part of being courageous and we reminded ourselves that at Welton, having a go to be the best we can be is one of our school rules. We took inspiration from the England Women's Rugby Team as they demonstrated how courage can bring confidence to achieve amazing things! Maybe have a conversation with your child this weekend about what courage looks and feels like for them. As Audrey Hepburn once said, 'Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I'm Possible'.
With thanks for your continued support. I hope you will book an upcoming parents evening slot (details below) as we look forward to sharing how your child has settled into the new school year. I look forward to seeing you there!
Happy Friday everyone! Mr Snell :)
Parent/Carer Evenings bookings during the week of the 20th October will be open for booking on Wednesday 8th. This is a great opportunity for parents/carers and teachers to come together to discuss how children have settled into school and what next steps need to take place to ensure they make the very best progress throughout this academic year. Please ensure you book a meeting so that you can speak with the teacher. It is paramount that the collaboration between school and home is consistent as we all want what is very best for the children and for them to achieve. Thank you for your support with this. Let's aim for 100% attendance. :)

Next week, we will be trailing our new Arbor Parent App to send messages. This will be our way of communication from after Christmas but we would like to start trailing it to iron out any issues before we make the switch. If you haven't tried logging in yet, now is the time to do so. From the Arbor App, we will be able to send emails and messages directly to you and you will also be able to update personal details for you and your child. I will be sending a message in the middle of the week so if you don't get it, please let us know. Similarly, I will be aiming to send the newsletter by this format next Friday.
With any new technology, there are bound to be teething issues so thank you for your patience with this.
You should have had your child's Cauliflower Card come home today. Please follow the instructions on the paper to order the card. When you have completed the order, please send the card back in so we can send it off. The deadline for returning these is Friday 10th October 2025.
On Thursday, the children will be going to Welton Baptist Church to take part in a Harvest Festival Celebration. We are partnering with Somer Valley Food bank to collect harvest donations. I will share what items they are looking for at the start of next week. Thank you for your ongoing support to help us support the local community.
Also, if you are able to walk down with us to the church, please let the office know. Thank you.
We are excited to share that we will be taking part in a project to support the SEND development and to continue to shape the future of inclusive education at our school.
We are inviting all parents and carers to take part in a vital survey as part of the Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) programme.
This project is funded by NHS England and delivered in partnership with the Department for Education, the Department of Health and Social Care, and the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF).
The survey will be open for two weeks and will be sent out on Monday.
The PINS project aims to make mainstream schools more inclusive and supportive for children with additional educational needs. Your feedback is crucial! It will help us understand what our school is doing well and where improvements can be made to better support all children.
This survey is for all parents and carers with children at our school.
Your child does not need to have a diagnosis or be waiting for an assessment—we want to hear from every family.
If you have more than one child at the school, you are welcome to complete a separate survey for each child.
We are very excited to begin this journey and work alongside you to further improve our support for children with SEND.

Weds 3rd Dec 25
Time: 13:00-14:00
On Wednesday, as the sun shone down, a group of our Y5 and 6's showed incredible courage, resilience and sportsmanship. The task: a 1.2km run around the Odd Down Rec. For some this was their first time running such a distance and, whilst they found it tough, all completed it with a smile on their faces. Mrs Berry's favourite part was seeing those not running get alongside the runners and support them t o finish the course- this meant that some almost did the course 2 or 3 times! A special mention to Jacob and Ember who placed 5th and 9th in their categories which was an amazing achievement.
We are looking this year to enter into the Pentathlon GB South West Schools Biathlon event which takes place at Millfield School on Sunday 23rd November. The events are as follows:
Y3 and 4- 25m swim and 400m run
Y5 and 6- 50m swim and 800m run
There is a £20 entry fee and a £6.50 day membership fee to participate. If you would like to find out more about the event please speak to Mrs Berry as soon as possible.
To enter, you will need to register and create an account on this website: https://pentathlongb.sport80.com
It is a great opportunity to participate in a competitive environment and experience something new for many of out children!
