What a truly wonderful eight weeks it has been here at Welton! The children have been absolutely excellent, and it was brilliant to spend last week celebrating their achievements and progress with you all at our Parent/Carer Evenings.
This term has been absolutely jam-packed with fantastic learning experiences, from getting out on the green for golf sessions, to exploring and celebrating Black History Month, and gathering for our Harvest celebrations, and much more! We, as staff, have sincerely loved spending time teaching and guiding your children through their learning journey this term.
Looking Ahead to Next Term!
We are already excited about what's coming next! We can't wait to introduce a few new ways for you to get involved, including Parent PE sessions, OPAL stay and plays, and our important Remembrance celebrations.
In the very first week back, we'll be selling poppies and other official Royal British Legion merchandise to raise money. Snap bands will be £2, and we'll also have other goods like wristbands. Please remember to bring cash donations for these items.
We hope you all have a relaxing and rejuvenating break! See you soon!
It has come to our attention that there are several children who are being unsafe when crossing the road and heading into the car park during the start and end of day. Please speak to your child and discuss the importance of crossing safely. Radstock Road is incredibly busy and the last thing we want is to have to phone you if there is an injury due to irresponsible road crossing.
Over the next few weeks, we will be adding all key events onto our new Parent Calendar. You can find this here: https://www.weltonprimaryschool.co.uk/key-information/parent-calendar-and-timetable.htm
We hope this will make communication clearer in the future :)
Join us next term for Parents in PE on a Wednesday. Year 3 will be kicking us off on the 5th, followed by Year 4 on the 12th. We will send the other dates out on the first week back. See Mrs Berry's video below, telling us what it is all about.
Our children have worked incredibly hard while learning about Black History Month and finding out about their particular influential person. They have produced some fantastic work around their chosen person. We hope you enjoyed our museum that is on display in the hall. If you haven't seen it, make sure you have a look during parents evening!
We have been learning about The Stone Age in year 3 this term and this week we spent the day immersed in Stone Age style activities. We had a fantastic day creating our own cave art pictures, making our own bread dough and cooking it on an open fire, hunting and gathering berry tokens which we then traded in for fruits and we even made our own clay tools (with a special visit from Mr. Munro to tell us about his Neolithic hand Axe!). Some children tried new fruits and deemed them to be delicious whilst others loved experimenting with nature and leaves to create their own Stone Age inspired pictures. Kingfisher Class were fantastic and had put in 100% effort all day! More photos of their fabulous costumes and activities can be found on our class web page.
We are currently making plans for Remembrance Day on Tuesday 11th November, which we will share with you during the first week back. In the meantime, please can you save your copper coins for our artistic donation to the Royal British Legion - more will be revealed after half term! Thank you.
Next term, we will be welcoming parents/carer in for an OPAL stay and play session. This is where we will talk about what OPAL is, how we manage risk and what you can do to help.
In the meantime, if you have any old clothes, toys or any bits of guttering/loose parts you would like to donate, please do let us know.
Thank you.
As we head into the Christmas season, Mr Snell would like to invite extra children from Y3,4,5 and 6 to join the Welton Choir as we prepare to sing at local events including the school nativity! Please click https://forms.gle/491QxGNYTN7sQ64F8 to add your child's name if they are interested in joining. The more the merrier!
We were delighted to hand over so many donations from our harvest collection to the local Foodbank this week. The volunteer who collected was so grateful for all the packets, tins and jars that we kindly donated. A wonderful example of the Welton community helping others in need. Thank you.
The staff at Welton have been consistently impressed by the positive attitudes, kindness, and commitment our children have demonstrated since returning to school in September. That's why we're delighted to have hosted the Headteachers' Tea Party to shine a spotlight on these exceptional students.
A special round of applause for our tea party attendees: David, Violet, River, Kitty, Oliver, Avery, Alex, Leo, Isaac, Emma, Max, and Grace. We enjoyed celebrating their outstanding effort!
What a fantastic term it has been! We are absolutely delighted to celebrate the incredible achievement of Ludlow House, who have demonstrated outstanding teamwork, dedication, and spirit to claim the prestigious House Cup!
Ludlow House has excelled in all areas, earning the most house points through consistent effort, exemplary behaviour, and enthusiastic participation in various school events and competitions. This victory is a testament to every Ludlow student's commitment, from the youngest pupils to our senior leaders. Well done, Ludlow! Your hard work and collective positive attitude truly paid off.
A Well-Deserved Reward!
To celebrate this phenomenal success, we are pleased to announce a special treat for all members of the victorious Ludlow House.
On the first Friday back after the break, all children belonging to Ludlow House will be allowed to enjoy a non-uniform day!
They have earned the right to swap their usual school wear for their own clothes as a token of our appreciation for their stellar performance. We can't wait to see you celebrate your victory in style!
Congratulations again to every single student in Ludlow House—you are brilliant champions!
The school's Parent-Teacher-Friends Association (PTFA) is an absolutely brilliant force for good! They make a huge, tangible impact on our pupils' lives by raising vital funds that go directly towards giving every student the very best experience and resources. This incredible group dedicates countless hours of their own time—volunteering at events, coordinating efforts, and planning initiatives—all to benefit our school community. We simply couldn't do it without them!
Get Involved: PTFA Annual General Meeting (AGM)
We would love for you to join us at the upcoming PTFA Annual General Meeting (AGM). It’s a great chance to hear about the incredible achievements of the past year, learn where the funds have been spent, and discover the plans for the future.
We are always eager to welcome new members and fresh perspectives! If you have a passion for helping our school community and can spare a little time, please consider joining us. Even a small commitment can make a huge difference!
Save the Date: Christmas Fayre!
Please mark your calendars for our annual festive highlight! The Christmas Fayre is one of the PTFA's biggest and most successful fundraising events of the year.
Come along for festive fun, great stalls, and a fantastic community atmosphere—all while supporting the school!
Take a look at our class pages below! We will be updating these on the school website in the coming weeks!
We have loved showing prospective parents around this week. It has been great! We will be sharing some open days for next term! Please share these with people you know. The more people, the merrier.
