Welcome back! We hope you have all had a lovely summer and a feeling rested. Staff have been incredibly busy over the holidays preparing the school site for your children's return, and we cannot wait to show the wonderful improvements within the school.
As always, staff cannot wait to meet your children on Monday. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to speak with someone, or pop into the office. We are always happy to help and support everyone as we begin the new term.
In today's newsletter, we are hoping to cover the basics so you are all prepared for Monday. Please also ensure you have updated Arbor with any changes to allergies, dietary requirements, medication etc.
On Thursday, we are joined by Bath Parent Carer Forum who offer support to families and young people, who care for anyone in any capacity. If you would like to come along, they would love to see you. This is independent to the school and is a safe space for parents to seek guidance and get support from experienced practitioners.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and will see you at 8:40 on Monday!
Mr Lyle :)
Please see the allocated PE days for your child. Children can come to school in their PE kit. If it is a Forest School session, they need to wear appropriate old clothing (covering arms and legs) and bring a change of clothes.
The Nest - Forest (Mon), PE (Wed + Fri)
Year 1 - PE (Thursday and Friday)
Year 2/3 - PE (Monday and Thursday)
Year 4 - Swimming (Tuesday), PE (Thursday)
Year 5 - Forest (Thursday), PE (Friday)
Year 6 - Forest (Thursday), PE (Monday)
As children will get Forest time across the year, this will change termly and we will update you via the newsletter.
As we begin the term, please ensure children are coming to school in the correct uniform as outlined on the website. We know how expensive school uniform can be, so please name EVERYTHING. This means we can get it back to you as soon as possible. We would also appreciate it if children come to school with a water bottle, rain coat and healthy snack each day - this helps us to give them the very best opportunites regardless of the weather and help them to remain focused and hydrated throughout the day; no one can learn on an empty stomach.
Lost property will be put by the 'old KS1' gate every Friday, so please check there if you are missing something.
Please come and see someone if you are unsure of where to find lost property.
On Wednesday 9th, there will be an opportunity for parents to drop in, between 3:30 - 4:00, to meet with the class teachers. There is no expectation on this however, it is a nice opportunity to see your child's new classroom and put a face to a name.
We will also be sending a back to school letter, outlining what your child will be learning and any trip updates by next Friday. The class pages will also be up and running then.
If you have any concerns, or need to speak to your child's teacher privately, please speak to the school office and, when appropriate, the teacher will get back to you.
Many thanks and we look forward to seeing you all then. :)
For September, please find our school entrances and exits. Gates will continue to open at 8:30, with doors opening at 8:40. Please be aware, if your child arrives at school by themselves before 8:30, they will be invited into breakfast club to wait there, incurring a cost. The two side doors will be known as Gate 1 (Old KS2) and Gate 2 (Old KS1).
The Nest (EYFS) - Enter through the main door to the Hub and exit from the same door. There will be space for children to wait - please do not enter the EYFS outdoor area. The only entrance will be via the wooden fence.
Year 1 (Robin) - Enter via the steps to Year 1. There will be a space for you to wait in the EYFS area. Your teacher will come and meet you. Children will be collected from outside the Year 1 steps.
Year 2/3 (Kingfisher) - Enter through Gate 1 (Old KS2) and leave through the same door.
Year 4 (Kestrel) - Enter through the Gate 2 (old KS1) and exit the same way.
Year 5 (Hawk) - Enter through Gate 1 (Old KS2) and leave through the same door.
Year 6 - (Eagle) - Enter through Gate 1 (Old KS2) and leave through the same door.
If you are unsure on the first day, don't panic, there will be plenty of people on hand to help. :)
On our first Monday back, we are hosting a Welly Boot Swap!
If you have any outgrown wellies in good condition that you no longer need, please bring them to the school playground after school. You are also very welcome to come along and grab a pair if your child needs them.
We hope this initiative will help us boost our sustainability efforts whilst helping families save money on new wellies.
At our school, we constantly strive to provide our children with the very best well-rounded education possible. We want our pupils to leave us not just with academic success, but as confident, capable, and well-prepared individuals. With this in mind, we are thrilled to introduce our exciting new initiative: Team Time!
What is Personal Development?
Personal development is all about equipping children with the vital skills, knowledge, and emotional resilience they need to navigate the wider world. It goes beyond traditional subjects to focus on character, life skills, and well-being. Through Team Time, we are dedicated to giving every child the tools to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Our aim in these sessions is allowing the children to work across key stages (EYFS, KS1, LKS2 and UKS2) enabling them to spend time within teams building these personal development skills alongside our school values.
To ensure a rich and varied experience, Team Time is structured as a series of four exciting rotations that children will move through across the school year. The year is broken down into 9-to-10-week blocks (Weeks 1–9, 10–19, 20–29, and 30–39), allowing every year group from Year 1 up to Year 6 to experience each specialist area. EYFS will do this within The Nest.
Our four Team Time Teachers are:
Life Skills (Led by Mrs Tarrant): This incredibly important hour is focused on preparing children for the real world. It covers crucial, practical topics such as first aid, life-saving skills, money management, and career awareness.
Forest School (Led by Mrs Harvey): Based in our Canopy area, this session encourages outdoor learning, teamwork, and a deep connection with nature.
PE and Sport (Led by Mr Lyle): This hour focuses on physical health, sportspersonship, and high-energy team games.
Community (Led by Ms James): This session helps children explore their role within the school and the wider community. Following our school focus of Building Heart in the Foundations of Our Community.
We are incredibly excited to see our children develop these essential life skills and grow in confidence. Thank you, as always, for your continued support in helping us deliver the very best for our pupils!
For the first 9 weeks, your children will be doing the following activities:
Year 1 and 2 - PE and Lifeskills
Year 3 + 4 - Lifeskills and PE
Year 5/6 (Ludlow and Old Mills) - Forest School
Year 5/6 (Huish and Tyning) - Community
At the end of the 9 weeks, we will be inviting parents in to see what your children have been up to.
On Friday 11th, we are welcoming all parents and children to join us for the annual Welton Bounce. This will be from 3:15 - 5:15. There will be refreshments available to buy and it is a great opportunity to meet new parents, children and teacher alike. We cannot wait to see you all there! Please see the attached poster for your information.
